January 25, 2012

Hey, what’s up? You’ve guessed it…it’s me, Max, and I hope you’re having a good day. It’s almost February (can you believe it?), and 2012 is off with a bang! And since there are only a few more days of January left, I wanted to make sure that you all know that January is National Mentoring Month. Fishy Kitty looked up the word “mentor” on the computer, and he said that a mentor is a trusted teacher or counselor who gives advice and support. And the word “mentor” is also a verb which means to guide and teach. Mentors are role models, and they are always there for you no matter what. They help you, guide you, and they really believe in you and what you can achieve! Is there someone in your life who you consider a mentor? This can be a parent, a teacher, a doctor, or a friend. And you can definitely have more than one!

Cherry-Ot said that National Mentoring Month was started in 2002 by the Harvard School of Public Health and MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership, and it’s meant to help give attention to the importance of mentors and mentoring. National Mentoring Month is also meant to encourage people to become mentors and start getting involved with different kids and groups in the community. Everyone can make a difference! And I really like that.

Bye for now!
