Top Spot

February 1, 2012

Hi from McPopper Children’s Hospital! It’s Lily at the computer, and today is the first day of February. Actually, today’s date is extra cool because when you write down the numbers for February 1, 2012, it looks like this: 2/1/12, and that’s a palindrome! Do you know what a palindrome is? I learned in school that a palindrome is a word, phrase, or group of numbers that can be read the same way forwards and backwards. Can you think of any palindromes? I bet there are ones that you use all the time…like mom and dad!

Beary Bruised told me a bunch of palindromes like racecar, level, solos, eye, madam, pop, and toot. And there are phrases that are palindromes, too, which are pretty funny. Fishy Kitty’s favorite is, “was it a cat I saw?” and Kwon Do’s favorite is, “go dog!” Miss Soy’s favorite is, “no melon, no lemon,” and Samantha’s favorite is, “nurses run.” And since I love to draw, I like the palindrome, “drawn inward.” Max came up with the title of today’s blog, “Top Spot,” which is also a palindrome. (And the title of the blog is at the “top spot” of the screen. Pretty cool!) Can you think of any palindromes? Be sure to post them on our blog!

And don’t forget…have a critterrific day!
