Triple the Fun!

April 18, 2012

Hey, what’s up? It’s me, Max, and thanks for checking out our blog. Baseball season is in full swing (pun intended!), and on Sunday night, I saw one of the strangest and coolest plays that I’ve ever seen…a triple play! It was incredible! The Los Angeles Dodgers were playing the San Diego Padres at Dodger Stadium, and they were tied 4 to 4 in the top of the ninth inning with two on base. Javy Guerra was pitching for the Dodgers, and Jesus Guzman, a hitter for the Padres, was at the plate. Guzman went to make a sacrifice bunt, and it looked like the ball that was pitched to Guzman had hit the bat and then hit Guzman’s chest…but it really didn’t! It hit Guzman’s bat and then went straight down. It was then called a fair ball (even though to a lot of people it looked like a foul ball because they thought that it hit Guzman in the chest). Then the Dodger catcher A.J. Ellis threw the ball to Dodger Juan Uribe at third, who threw it to Dodger Dee Gordon at second, and then it went to Dodger James Loney at first. The Padres who were on the plates were stunned! They just stood there. They didn’t run. And neither did Guzman. And they were all out! I’ve never seen anything like it! It was awesome. It was the first triple play that the Dodgers had made since 1998. Then, in the bottom of the ninth, the Dodgers got a walk off single and won the game 5 to 4. Baseball never stops amazing me. I can’t wait until the next game!

Bye for now!
