Planting Some Fun!

May 23, 2012

Hi from McPopper Children’s Hospital! It’s Lily at the computer today, and thanks so much for checking out our blog. It’s great that we get to be with you each week! Ping & Pong told me that May is National Gifts from the Garden Month. That means it’s a great time to appreciate the gardens around us and to celebrate the amazing things that gardens have to offer! You can get in the garden and start planting, and you can fill your room (and your plate!) with things from the garden like fruits, vegetables, and herbs. We have a garden here at the hospital, and it’s blooming with flowers right now. It looks really pretty, and it’s full of bright spring colors. If you can’t get to a garden outside, you can grow yummy things indoors (like avocados and tomatoes, and herbs like basil and parsley). Or you can always draw some flowers (like I did with Mr. McPopper’s markers) and put those pictures up in your room. My parents told me that I’m their gift from the garden because my name is Lily. Maybe that’s why I like National Gifts from the Garden Month so much!

So whether you’re planting or drawing, don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty when you’re enjoying the gardens around you! And don’t forget…have a critterrific gardening day!
