Fantastic Fruit

Hi from McPopper Children’s Hospital! It’s Lily at the computer, and it’s another pretty day in Kite Tree. The sky is bright blue, the sun is shining, and I can even hear birds chirping outside my window. Jell-a is trying to sing along with them, and she’s whistling just like the birds. She sounds exactly like them! Dr. Duck Ling is also trying to sing just like the birds outside, but his chirping really sounds a lot more like tiny quacks. Oh well!

So you’re probably wondering about today’s blog title, and I’m excited to announce that one of my favorite summer fruits, the nectarine, is the fruit of the month for July! (Miss Soy told me that.) Nectarines are sort of like peaches, but they don’t have a fuzzy skin like peaches do. Nectarines are really healthy and are full of vitamins and minerals. Plus, they taste so good! They’re the perfect afternoon snack. And did you know there are over 100 kinds of nectarines? (Miss Soy told me that, too.) I really want to try them all. The funniest thing is that Samantha packed a nectarine in her lunch today. She said they looked so yummy at the grocery store that she wanted to try them. Good idea!

So be on the lookout for nectarines this month. This is their time to shine! And don’t forget…have a critterrific day!
