Gabby gets Gold!

Hey, what’s up? It’s me, Max, and I hope you’re having an awesome day. Lily and I have been seeing a lot of the Olympics on television. It’s been so fun to watch! There are so many amazing athletes, from Michael Phelps to Hope Solo to LeBron James. But one athlete that Lily and I have really enjoyed watching and learning about is Gabby Douglas. Have you heard of her? She’s on the American gymnastics team, and she already won two gold medals.

Gabby was born on December 31, 1995, in Virginia. She began doing gymnastics when she was really little, and she was so talented that when she was 14, she left her family to go to Iowa so that she could train with a great coach named Liang Chow and really improve her skills. Even though she was homesick and missed her family, it was important for Gabby to train at the highest level possible, and she was determined to get even better at gymnastics. She took a big risk by leaving her family and going somewhere new. And Lily and I can really relate to Gabby because we both know what it’s like to go to an unfamiliar place. But just like Gabby, we met a lot of great and loving people who believe in us and want to help us in any way that they can!

We’ve had a lot of fun watching Gabby, and we’re rooting for you, Team USA! Keep it up!

Bye for now!
