Autumn is Awesome!

Hi from McPopper Children’s Hospital! It’s me, Lily, and thanks for checking out our blog. Fall is officially here! It started last Saturday, September 22nd, on a day known as the Autumnal Equinox. And now that it’s fall, I decided to decorate my room in a new way. So I cut different leaf shapes out of red, yellow, green, and brown construction paper and taped the leaves up around my room. Now my room looks so festive! But what’s really cool is that Samantha showed me that the best way to cut a leaf out of construction paper is to first fold the construction paper in half and cut only half of a leaf shape out of the folded side. (Be sure to push hard with your scissors! It’s like you’re cutting through two different pieces of paper at once.) Then, once you cut out half of a leaf, when you open up the construction paper, you will have a whole leaf that matches perfectly on both sides. It’s a super neat trick!

How are you getting into the fall spirit? Be sure to write and let us know! And don’t forget, have a critterrific fall day!
