Fun with Nutrition!

Hi from McPopper Children’s Hospital! It’s Lily at the computer, and I hope you’re all having a great day. Now that it’s March, Miss Soy wanted me to tell you that this is National Nutrition Month! That means it’s the perfect time to focus on what we eat and make sure we are having foods that are good for us and full of nutrition. Plus, it’s also a great time to see what changes (big or small) we can make in our diets so that we are eating healthier. One way to eat better is to try to fill our plates with foods of many colors. Miss Soy said we should try having more greens, yellows, reds, and oranges on our plates because a variety of colors means a variety of nutrients. Another easy change is to snack on veggies like carrots and celery instead of chips and pretzels or have fruit for dessert instead of cake. Small changes make a big impact! And speaking of making a big impact, today is Registered Dietician Day! Here at the hospital there are registered dietitians who help design meals and meal plans for all of us. Dieticians across the world are working hard to help people make the right choices when it comes to food, and we thank them for their help and support!
