Leap Year!

February 24, 2016

Hey, what’s up? It’s me, Max, and I hope you’re having a great day. Next Monday is February 29th, and that means 2016 is a Leap Year! A Leap Year is a year with one extra day, and it happens every four years. That’s because it takes the earth approximately 365.25 days to go around the sun, so adding an extra day every four years can help match up the actual calendar year with the solar year. How cool is that?

I’ve always wondered about kids who are born on February 29th. When do they celebrate their birthdays when it’s not a Leap Year? The day before? The day after? It must make their birthday even more special because the day only comes once every four years. So to all of the Leap Year birthdays out there, I say, “Happy Birthday!” I hope you celebrate four times harder than everyone else.

Bye for now!
